Totton & Eling Town Council will be commemorating the 80th anniversary of VJ Day and the end of the Second World War with a series of special events this August.
- Residents are invited to join a weekend of remembrance and community reflection, beginning with a Memorial Service at the Totton & Eling War Memorial on Thursday 15 August at 6pm. This service will honour the bravery and sacrifices of those who served during the war, as well as the vital contributions of those who supported the effort from home.
- Later that evening, the Lamps of Peace Parade will take place at 8:45pm, starting at Totton & Eling Community Centre. The event will include a symbolic parade followed by music and an opportunity for the community to gather and reflect.
- On Saturday 17 August, the Town Council will host a free Afternoon Tea at the Community Centre from 1:30pm to 4pm, featuring live music and a light-hearted quiz.
All events are free and open to all members of the community.
