Rainwater Tanks Installed Across Parish

New Rainwater Tanks Installed Across Parish Allotment Sites

17 July 2026

Allotment tenants across the parish are set to benefit from improved facilities and a more sustainable water supply following the installation of four new rainwater harvesting tanks.

The new tanks, which have been installed by our dedicated maintenance team, are now in place at all four allotment locations, providing gardeners with a practical and environmentally friendly way to access water for their plots.

The tanks are designed to collect and store rainwater, creating a sustainable source of water that can be used for irrigation throughout the growing season. By making better use of natural rainfall, the initiative will help reduce reliance on mains water while supporting tenants in maintaining healthy and productive allotments.

The installation of the tanks marks another successful improvement for allotment users and demonstrates how small changes can make a significant difference in supporting sustainable practices. This forms part of our ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and improving local community facilities, set out in our Core Values and 5 year plan.

Funding for the project was secured through New Forest District Council as part of efforts to enhance allotment facilities. The investment reflects the value of allotment5-yearonly as places to grow fresh fruit and vegetables, but also as spaces that promote wellbeing, biodiversity and community engagement.

With the new infrastructure now in place, allotment holders can look forward to making the most of the collected rainwater throughout the year.

Now let’s all hope for some rain!
