New Solar-Powered Bus Shelters Installed in Totton

New Solar-Powered Bus Shelters Installed in Totton

Totton and Eling Town Council is pleased to announce the installation of new solar-powered lighting at two bus shelter locations: Bearslane Close (on Blackwater Drive) and Testwood Crescent (on Salisbury Road).

As part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and the wellbeing of residents, solar panels have been installed at each shelter to provide a renewable source of energy for lighting. This environmentally friendly upgrade helps reduce energy consumption while supporting the Council’s efforts to create a greener and more sustainable community.

The new lighting will improve visibility and enhance safety for residents using the shelters during early morning, evening and night-time journeys. By creating brighter and more welcoming waiting areas, the improvements aim to make public transport more accessible and comfortable for all.

The project has been successfully delivered by Totton and Eling Town Council with funding from Hampshire County Council and the Department for Transport, as part of an initiative to enhance local bus facilities.

These upgrades represent another positive step towards improving local infrastructure while embracing sustainable solutions that benefit both residents and the environment.
