Green spaces across Totton & Eling have been refreshed with new features designed to make the outdoor areas more enjoyable, welcoming, and inspiring for residents and visitors alike.
The enhancements focus on creativity, wellbeing, and community spirit, aiming to make the area more appealing and accessible for all to enjoy.
Improvements to the Town Park see nine bespoke, hand-made benches, crafted from sustainable oak and galvanised steel. These thoughtfully designed benches reflect the character of the town and are intended to complement the natural surroundings and
offer peaceful spots to rest and take in the view.
Also in the Town Park, a newly developed rockery, noticeboards, unique play equipment, performance area, and a human sundial bring a mix of tranquillity and curiosity. The rockery, positioned alongside the existing pond, provides a relaxing backdrop in the park.
The human sundial is a fun, educational feature where visitors can use their shadow to tell the time, and the performance area has already been home to some excellent performances for the VE Day celebrations.
Along the town’s popular Green Route, wild mushrooms have begun to appear, though not the foraging kind. These are colourful ceramic creations made by residents as part of a community-led project supported by the Council. The installation adds a whimsical touch of discovery and charm to the pathway, reflecting Totton’s growing sense of civic pride and creative spirit.
This initiative was made possible thanks to UK Government funding through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
